The authors write that the number of species of concern in the region more than doubled in a period of just a few years, from 64 in 2008 to 131 in 2011. The list is based on assessments from the State of Washington, the Province of British Columbia, the Canadian Federal Government, and the United States Federal Government. It includes 3 invertebrates, 37 fishes, 2 reptiles, 56 birds and 15 mammals.
