) in Pierce County, Washington, in the northeast portion of this distribution, now appear to be extirpated (Stinson 2005). The last recorded specimens were killed by cats in Wapato Hills in 1974; none were detected during a survey conducted in 1998 (Stinson 2005) nor subsequently (TNC and WDFW 2006, USFWS 2007). Several additional local populations also have been extirpated in the main portion of the range in Thurston County (Stinson 2005).
