Building Squaxin Island Tribe capacity to implement the 2020 Action Agenda for Puget Sound and the EPA region 10 comprehensive conservation and management plan

This 2015 report from the Squaxin Island Tribe details the projects it undertook with funds received by the EPA for the implementation of the 2020 Puget Sound Action Agenda. These projects include the restoration of the Shelton Harbor shoreline and a pelagic food web study.

Overview

The Squaxin Island Tribe (SIT) received $792, 252 in capacity building funds from the Environmental Protection Agency over a six-year grant period to assist in the implementation of the Puget Sound Action Agenda (PSAA).  Activities included:  1.) Coordination of SIT priorities to be met through the PSAA through participation in meetings and applying for funding; 2.)  Dissemination of scientific information as a result of studies conducted in South Puget Sound waters; and 3.) participation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in a forage fish and pelagic food web field investigation.
