Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference

Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference logoThe Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference is the largest, most comprehensive event of its kind in the region. The purpose of the conference is to assemble scientists, First Nations and tribal government representatives, resource managers, community/business leaders, policy makers, educators and students to present the latest scientific research on the state of the ecosystem, and to guide future actions for protecting and restoring the Salish Sea Ecosystem. To accomplish its purpose, the conference will feature plenary sessions with keynote speakers, concurrent sessions featuring oral presentations, poster presentations, workshops, frequent opportunities for informal networking, and related off-program events.

Over 900 delegates attended and participated in the 2007 Georgia Basin Puget Sound Research Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Pugert Sound Action Team and generous co-sponsors, including state and federal agencies, local governments, universities, and businesses, convened the fifth Puget Sound Research Conference in 2001 in Bellevue, Washington.

The 2022 Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference took place April 26th to April 28th in an online format. All 2022 presentations from the conference will be available publicly on the SSEC repository site, Western CEDAR, unless an embargo was placed by the author/s.

The 2020 Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference took place April 21st and 22nd in an online format due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

The 2018 Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference took place April 4-6 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA. It featured 588 presentations across 17 topic areas.
