The Puget Sound Marine Waters 2011 report was created by the Marine Waters Workgroup, part of the Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program. It is a comprehensive summary of data gathered in the Sound through collaboration and data sharing among organizations working in the region.

The report, released September 6, 2012, presents an overview of marine water quality in 2011 for Puget Sound and selected waters influencing the Sound. It covers climate and weather patterns, both local and large-scale, nutrient content, dissolved oxygen, salinity, temperature, toxins and bacteria, and algae and plankton populations.

The Marine Waters Workgroup plans to use the data collected in this report to inventory and evaluate monitoring programs in the Sound, improve communication of data and strategies between organizations, and update the Puget Sound Dashboard of Vital Signs.
