Global Range
GH - 200,000 to >2,500,000 square km (about 80,000 to >1,000,000 square miles) - GH - BREEDS: northeastern Siberia, possibly western Alaska. NORTHERN WINTER: East Indies, Australasia, Polynesia. Migrates regularly through Hawaii (mostly in west, common in fall, rare in spring), western Alaska and rarely (primarily in fall) from south-coastal and southeastern Alaska south along the Pacific coast to southern California and through Pacific islands (AOU 1998). Casual elsewhere in North America, mostly in fall (recorded from northeastern British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, North Dakota, Ontario, New York, and New England south to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, the Gulf coast and Florida); sight report for Quebec (AOU 1998).
