Cephaloziella turneri is a very small green to reddish brown plant that occurs as scattered shoots or in small patches (Smith, 1990).

Ireland and England (Cornwall, I. of Wight and E. Kent north to Hereford) Mediterranean islands and region of Europe and N. Africa, Caucasus, Azores, Madeira, La Palma, Tenerife, California (Smith, 1990). In North America, occurs in Washington, Oregon, and California USA and British Columbia, Canada (Hong 1986).
