Species: Cyperus acuminatus
Encyclopedia of Puget Sound
Sharp-pointed Flatsedge is a grass-like, 5-20 cm high annual that forms tufts of stems. The few leaves occur near the base of the plant and are 1-2 mm wide. The inflorescence is subtended by 3-4 long, leaf-like bracts. Each flower consists only of a small, pointed, 2 mm long scale, which subtends a single stamen and ovary. Flowers are crowded opposite each other into flattened spikelets that are 3-7 mm long. The spikelets occur in globose clusters and are borne on very short to long stalks. The seed is triangular in cross-section.
