Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
A robust perennial herb, 0.6-2.5 m tall, with deeply lobed leaves and dense yellow hairs on the upper stem and flower cluster. Flowers (June and July) have yellow or purple petals and purple sepals that are prominently streaked with yellow.

Endemic to state of Washington; known from Wenatchee Mountains, Chelan and Kittitas Counties. "The extent of its total known range is an area approximately 30 km long and, at its widest, approximately 10 km across" (Richter et al. 1994).
