Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
A lichen; thallus foliose, medium sized to large, whitish gray to greenish gray above; lobes nodulose, hollow, cascading in arcs, about 1 mm wide; lobe interiors with a dark floor and often a white ceiling; lower surface black; soredia and isidia lacking; apothecia common, brown (McCune and Geiser 1997).

Global Range
From Alaska to Oregon, in the Coast Ranges and the western slope of the Cascades. Not known south of Corvallis in the Coast Range nor south of Mt. Hood in the Cascades (McCune and Geiser 1997). In AK known from the East Pacific Coast District (southeast AK) (Krog 1968). Also reported from Alberta (Bird and Marsh 1973).
