(1961) and Hitchcock and Cronquist (1974) as L. latifolius var. thompsonianus with L. suksdorfii as a synonym (cf. Jolley 1988). Recognized by Peck (1961), who as well recognized L. sericeus var. thompsonianus (as Kartesz 1999). Recognized by C.P. Smith in Abrams (1944), whereas var. thompsonianus was just noted by Abrams (1944), having been described too late for thorough inclusion.
