Global Range
Cold temperate North Pacific Ocean, extending in the eastern Pacific roughly from San Diego, California, to Vancouver Island, Canada (based on stranding records) (Leatherwood and Reeves 1983); occurs off Japan in the western Pacific (IUCN 1991).
