Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
1 cm broad; upper surface yellowish green, yellowish tan, or greenish when dry, often with tan edges, blue gray when wet, with a weak or distinct network of ridges; lower surface cream to tan, smooth, lacking tomentum; coarse granular soredia usually present towards the center of the thallus; photobiont blue green; apothecia unknown (McCune and Geiser 1997).

Global Range
Restricted to the Pacific Northwest, from Alaska south to Oregon. Occurs west of the Cascades, except for inland disjuncts in British Columbia (Goward 1994, McCune and Geiser 1997). In Alaska, known from Chilkoot Lake, and the Central Pacific Coast District (Zavarzin and Timdal 2004). Total U.S. occupancy is about 6757 square miles (17,500 square km). In British Columbia, approximately 20 square miles (52 square km).
