Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
A slender to stout herb with up to 5 or 6 leaves and a dense, terminal spike of many green to yellowish green flowers.
Reproduction Comments
Many members of the Dilatata- Hyperborea complex are probably self pollinating. In the far north mosquitoes which feed on arctic plants may play a role in pollination.
Ecology Comments
Populations in sandy soils can be destroyed by persisting high waters. Almost always associated with skunk cabbage and marsh marigold. ( Symplocarpus foetidus and Caltha palustris).
