Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
Hoary willow is a low- to medium-sized willow, generally to 4 feet tall. The lower surfaces of the leaves are covered with a dense, white, felt-like tomentum, comprised of fine, tangled hairs. The catkins are nearly sessile, but may have several, small leafy bracts.
