Short General Description
A lichen that forms an inconspicuous whitish to greyish curst on soil and organic matter. The reproductive structures (apothecia) are quite distinctive and easier to spot in the field than the thallus. The apothecia are typically circular, 0.5-1.5 mm in diameter, with a dark blackish, powdery center that is tinged with yellow, with whitish rims.
