Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
12 cm; pale greenish or yellowish tinged, occasionally reddish brown or blackening; branches pinched at the nodes and slightly to distinctly expanded at the internodes, so that individual branch segments are cigar shaped; main branches papillose; isidia or soredia usually present; apothecia rare; lateral or terminal, with a thalloid margin and pale disk (McCune and Geiser 1997).

Global Range
Occurs west of the Cascade crest in Oregon and Washington (McCune and Geiser 1997).
