Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
Perennial rhizomatous plant with a woody stem base that is square in cross-section (Pojar and Mackinnon 1994). White flowers grow in a flat-topped cluster and produce a strong scent. Valeriana scouleri is a smaller species with fewer leaves, which are smooth edged compared to others in the genus (Pojar and Mackinnon 1994).
