Global Range
H - >2,500,000 square km (greater than 1,000,000 square miles) - H - This bumble bee is widespread from the Canadian Maritimes, northeastern U.S., down the mountains to Georgia, to Nebraska and northern Arkansas in the Midwest, and west to the mountains of Arizona, and to the coast in California, Washington and southern British Columbia. While it has reportedly declined or possibly disappeared in some places, and as of Super and Moyer (2003), B. fervidus had not been found in Great Smoky Mountains National Park since 1997, with the possible exception of the southern Appalachians, the range appears little changed although the species is probably scarcer. It was still found fairly widely in Nebraska in 1999-2002 (Golick and Ellis, 2006). Populations in the northwest part of this range would represent putative subspecies or species californicus, but Schmidt and Jacobson (2005) report Arizona records as B. fervidus.
