D - 1000-5000 square km (about 400-2000 square miles) - D - Overall range is uncertain but the nominal subspecies is sporadic in some of the small drainages on the west end of the Columbia Gorge, Washington-Oregon, east of the Willamette River, and was probably once widespread in this area (Frest and Johannes, 1995). Subspecies dallesensis range is probably in the central-eastern Columbia Gorge, Washington to Oregon (Frest and Johannes, 1995). Subspecies maupinensis is probably widespread in the Deschutes River drainage, including major tributaries, Wasco, Sherman, and Jefferson Cos., Oregon (Frest and Johannes, 1995). An undescribed subspecies is known from a single site in Deschutes National Forest, near Black Butte, Indian Ford, Indian Ford Creek, Deschutes Co., Oregon (Frest and Johannes, 1995).
