H - >2,500,000 square km (greater than 1,000,000 square miles) - H - It has been demonstrated, through morphological and molecular analysis, that Mysis relicta is made up of four separate species, none of which have yet been assigned proper names (Vainola et al., 2002). The North American species occurs in freshwater subarctic and glacial lakes, primarily in Canada and the Great Lakes region but has been widely introduced throughout the U.S.A. and Canada into alpine and subalpine lakes as forage for introduced game fish species (Rogers, 2005).
