Reproduction Comments
In streams in northern California, oviposition occurred on teh downstream facing sides of rocks primarily in November, but egg masses were also present from April through November in WEbb Creek. Egg masses in Redwood Creek sometimes contained an egg predator, Acanthocnema sp. (Diptera: Scathophagidae). The species has five instars. Pupal and adult sex ratios indicated protandry, with males emerging before females by approximately 2 weeks in both streams (Mendez and Resh, 2008).
